2025 Legislative Priorities

Economic Empowerment for Working Latino Families

Latinos are the backbone of Georgia’s essential industries, from agriculture to healthcare. We advocate for policies that expand well-paying job opportunities, remove barriers to employment, and support Latino and immigrant entrepreneurship. As Georgia stares down a workforce shortage crisis, we will challenge any policies that would limit Latino participation in the state’s economy.

Safe and affordable housing is critical to Latino families’ stability and success. We support legislation that strengthens tenant protections, increases the state’s housing inventory, reduces costs for renters and homeowners, and makes the American Dream of owning a home a real possibility for working Latino families.

The rising cost of living disproportionately affects Latino communities. We support policies that reduce financial burdens by lowering the cost of essential goods, utilities, healthcare, and transportation services.

Upholding Immigrants' Rights and Dignity

We continue to push for a federal solution that includes a clear and humane pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants while protecting mixed-status families. We will always work to keep families together, expand work permit access, ensure the dignity of refugees and asylum-seekers, and expand protections for DACA recipients and Dreamers.

Immigrant communities are vital to Georgia’s economy and culture. We oppose policies that seek to criminalize working immigrant families, perpetuate distrust between our families and public safety officials, and any harmful legislation targeting our community.

Too many of our community members are forced to live in the shadows, making our communities less safe and secure. All Georgia residents should have the ability to drive legally and safely. We support policies that allow undocumented immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses, ensuring safer roads and increased mobility.

Protecting Democracy and Representation

Voting should be accessible to all eligible citizens. We will fight against voter suppression efforts and advocate for policies that expand access to the ballot box.

From birthright citizenship to due process, we will always actively resist any attempts to undermine constitutional protections for Latino and immigrant communities.

Latinos deserve elected officials who reflect their values and experiences. We support efforts to increase Latino representation in all levels of government and ensure our voices are heard. For us, this also means fighting against efforts to dilute Latino political power through problematic practices like gerrymandering or forcing unnecessary at-large voting in municipal elections.

Expanding Educational Opportunities for Latinos

Education is key to Georgia’s economic growth. We support policies that expand access to in-state tuition and financial aid for all Georgia students, regardless of immigration status, who seek to study at one of our state’s universities, community colleges, technical colleges, or trade schools. This will ensure that more Latinos can afford college and contribute to Georgia’s workforce.

A strong foundation in early and K-12 education is essential for long-term success. We will advocate for increased Pre-K access, full funding for K-12 public schools, and meaningful salary increases for public school faculty and staff to ensure quality education for all students.

Language should never be a barrier to success. We support policies that improve language access in schools, ensuring that Latino parents and students receive relevant resources and information in their preferred language.

Improving Latino Health and Well-being

Expanding Medicaid in Georgia will provide health insurance to more residents while reducing state healthcare costs. We support full Medicaid expansion, which has already been paid for by Georgia taxpayers, to ensure that our families have access to affordable, quality healthcare.

We, like our community, stand firmly for reproductive rights. We will always advocate for policies that defend bodily autonomy and protect our community’s access to comprehensive healthcare services.

Latino communities face significant barriers to healthcare. We support policies that improve language accessibility in medical services, expand community-based health programs, and address racial and ethnic health disparities.

Tackling Climate Change for a Sustainable Future

Every Georgian deserves protection from toxic waste, polluted air, and unsafe drinking water. Communities of color, including Latinos, are disproportionately affected by pollution and climate change. We will advocate for policies that protect access to clean air and water, ensuring environmental justice for all.

A sustainable future requires investment in clean energy and job creation. We support expanding Georgia’s renewable energy sector and ensuring Latino workers benefit from the transition to a green economy.

Affordable energy and reliable public transportation are essential for economic mobility. We support policies that lower utility costs and expand access to safe, efficient public transit.
