Latino Voters in Georgia Hold the Keys to Progressive Wins in 2026

Today, the Latino electorate in Georgia is a significant and growing force, comprising over 500,000 registered voters. This represents approximately 5% of the overall electorate. Since the 2020 election, the 2024 Latino electorate has grown by 30%.

Latino voter participation in Georgia has consistently outpaced the national Latino voter participation rate in many election cycles. The national Latino voter participation rates have trended below 50% of registered voters. However, Georgia’s Latino voter trends indicate higher turnout rates among the electorate over several election cycles.

In 2024, Georgia Latina voters had a voter turnout of over 57%.

Polling indicated that Harris won 64% of the Latino electorate, while Trump only garnered 35%, and 1% for the third-party candidate. (UnidosUS, “2024 Poll of the Latino Electorate”, 12/2/2024, https://unidosus.org/hispanicvote/polling-issues/)

Despite the fact that Trump won 48% of Latino votes nationally, Georgia held its own with only 35% of Latino voters voting for Trump. The swing of Latino voters toward Trump was in states that were not critical to the needed electoral college win, such as California, Florida, and New York. In Georgia, the increase in voter turnout and the vote for Trump swung by only 1%, while in other places, it swung by nearly 10 points.

In the most recent 2025 statewide Public Service Commission race, where Democrats outperformed Republicans, the Latino share of the overall electorate was 11%, despite only being 5% of the total electorate.

A November 2025 Pew Research Center survey finds that pessimism has spiked among Latino adults in the U.S. More than two-thirds of Hispanic adults — 68 percent — say the situation in the U.S. is worse for Hispanics today than it was one year ago, marking the first time in the survey’s roughly two-decade history that a majority has said their situation has deteriorated. By contrast, during Trump’s first term in 2019, 39 percent of U.S. Hispanics said the situation had worsened, per Pew.

Georgia Latino voters are essential to any winning combination that helps us flip Georgia back to blue. Failing to understand this and not investing in our Latino community could prove devastating to any efforts for progressive wins in 2026.

Our work with the GALEO Impact Fund is vitally important to ensure Latino voters are informed, educated about the candidates and go vote to protect our communities, protect our interests and protect our values.
