HB 1105, "The Georgia Criminal Alien Track and Report Act of 2024"

(Norcross, GA) Today, GALEO Impact Fund delivered a letter from our CEO Jerry Gonzalez to Governor Brian Kemp urging him to veto HB 1105 which will do nothing to address the very real issue of violence against women or keep our communities safe. As a law, HB 1105 will perpetuate stereotypes about immigrant communities and potentially encourage bad actors to target Latinos in Georgia.

As an organization that has been at the forefront of advocating for Georgia’s Latino and immigrant community since 2003, we know that comprehensive immigration reform is desperately needed in our country and understand the vital necessity of keeping our communities safe. However, we and our community members have serious concerns about the potentially grave impacts HB 1105 would have as law.

We call on everyone in Georgia to contact the Governor’s office and demand that he veto HB 1105.
